Improv/Theatre

Improv/Theatre is a group experience in which children work and play with others for the joy of creating improvised drama. While taking part in the group dynamic, each drama student is guided to self-expression through theater games, skits, storytelling, and other acting-skill activities. The class stimulates the imagination and develops speaking, listening, poise, and confidence skills. Each session works toward a final performance and parent night!

Miss Lori’s CAMPUS (MLC) is the brainchild of Educator, Recording Artist and PBS Kids Television host Miss Lori. MLC is the perfect place for your child to explore their sense of wonder in our highly creative and supportive environment. Miss Lori’s personal mission is to better the physical and emotional health of all children through her classes, artistry and her ambassadorships. Like Miss Lori herself, all of the Miss Lori’s CAMPUS teachers are motivated professionals with a passion for children and the arts. The Lake Forest Children’s Theatre Company provides a fun and entertaining way for students to learn discipline, responsibility, teamwork, and dedication. The Children’s Theatre sparks imagination and trains children to think creatively and intuitively. Classes improve communication skills, self-esteem and respect for others and encourage students to explore their own creative voices. Most of all, the Children’s Theatre inspires a love for the performing arts.

Kids will have their first chance to perform on stage. All children involved in this program will attend weekly rehearsals to learn songs, dances and scenes. This class includes theater games, activities and more. Each child who is enrolled will receive a part in the show. Children will be given a practice cassette tape and script for personal practice. Our highly accredited instructors will direct the children. Children must be able to attend the first day of class for “auditions” of parts. We will not accept anyone after the first day of class. Absences must be limited to two class sessions in order to participate. There will be a performance on Sunday, Dec. 14th, time and location TBA.

The children will rehearse weekly, under the direction of our highly accredited vocal, dance and drama instructors. The final performance will include original costumes and set design. Two Dance Sessions

Dance classes take place in two sessions: Fall session runs September 8 – December 19 Winter/Spring session will run January 5 - May 22 (will be available for registration later in the year).All dance classes are taught by professional members of Thodos Dance Chicago.

PLEASE NOTE:  No dance classes November 2nd - 9th for session break.  OBSERVATION WEEK for dance classes will be December 14th - December 19th.

A must for any dancer, ballet is the foundation for all other forms of dance. It makes a dancer’s body strong, agile, and flexible. Ballet improves musicality, balance, and coordination.

Youth Ensemble  - register online

Ages: 11-18

Students in this class will be given the extraordinary opportunity to perform in a professional setting before a large, educated dance audience. A piece will be especially created for this group by one of the choreographers of Thodos Dance Chicago. The first 30 minutes of class will consist of ballet technique, followed by 60 minutes of rehearsal. Every effort will be made to replicate a professional dance environment. Enrollment is by audition only; written commitment to attend every rehearsal is requested. Auditions for new participants is the first day of class.
